1991 Not many organizations these days
ask so little of its members but give back so
much -- real people contacts, opportunities to grow and
needed recognition of women's careers and work. One of the ways Arkansas Press Women serves its members is as a leadership building organization, one which promotes women in leadership roles at the state and national level. Our members have been president of NFPW and national Communicator of Achievement and Communication Contest Sweepstakes recipients. Additionally, our fall professional improvement conferences allow us to gather as a group and get continuing education directly related to our lives and work. We learn from our peers and from experts while enjoying each other's company as our careers progress through technology changes and life stages. We support more formal sorts of education, as well, with a scholarship given every year to a college student -- member or not -- majoring in the field of communications and media. Finally, and perhaps most obviously, APW membership helps you broaden your career choices with information on communications job openings around the country. |
