Networking OpportunitiesBy Jennifer Fulford, APW member since 1991 In a world that too often pushes
us past each other at insane speeds to keep For more than 50 years, APW has offered its members a chance to compare notes and forge friendships and working relationships with women and men from Pine Bluff to Pea Ridge. Arkansas Press Women work in newsrooms for print and broadcast media around the state. Some of us work at universities in PR departments. Some write and shoot our own magazines and websites. Some of us teach. All of us have insights and experience to share. Our spring awards luncheon and fall conference allow us to gather as a group, recognize excellence and get continuing education that directly serves our field. We learn from our peers and from experts while enjoying each other's company as our careers progress through technology changes and life stages. Informally, our national and state membership directories put hundreds of other professional communicators and their knowledge within fingertip reach, while our statewide e-mail discussion list makes it easy to ask questions, seek resources, or share news with other members en masse.
