Arkansas Press Women in Northwest Arkansas invite you to another fall gathering that promises to be as rewarding as 2001. Members and guests are invited for continuing education and good times in historic Eureka Springs for the 2002 Fall Professional Improvement Conference.

Registration

Conference fee: $35. Non-members may apply the fee to the $66.50 annual membership dues. Fee includes all sessions, Friday reception, and Saturday breakfast and lunch.

Registration deadline: Sept. 19. Use the registration form in your fall APW newsletter or contact: Debbie Miller, dmiller@nwaonline.net, (479) 273-7600.

Schedule

The conference commences Friday night, Oct. 4, at the Ellis House Bed and Breakfast for an evening reception and continues throughout Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Inn of the Ozarks for a full day of workshops, speakers and door prizes. (Click here for addresses and directions.)

Dr. Janine ParryDr. Janine Parry of the University of Arkansas Political Science Department will be the featured luncheon speaker on Saturday, discussing the creation and concerns of the newly created Arkansas Poll, an organization delving into the issues that affect Arkansans on a political level.

Also featured Saturday will be a presentation by the executive director of the recently established Dairy Hollow Writers’ Colony. The colony is a place of contemplation for writers, including journalists and other professional communicators, to use to tap into their creativity. Sandy Wright will also be accompanied by a resident writer at the colony, based in Eureka Springs.

The popular silent auction will return, with some wonderful items from vendors and retailers in Northwest Arkansas. And, we are arranging for free short massages by the finest hands in the region. We encourage you not to leave your spouses at home because our conference coincides with Corvette Weekend in Eureka Springs, when vintage and contemporary ’Vettes cruise the hills of town, something your significant other might enjoy taking in. There promises to be good evening entertainment throughout the weekend for the car enthusiasts that you can enjoy, too.

Registration this fall is $35 per person and includes all events. Guests and prospective members are welcome to attend. The registration deadline is Thursday, Sept. 19. The fee includes all meals: heavy hors d'oeuvres and wine on Friday night at the Ellis House; Saturday morning breakfast provided by local APW members; and the catered lunch Saturday. Also, a health snack will be offered at the end of the conference for those needing a bit of energy to shop or drive home.
